A database is a collection of data that is organized so that its contents can easily be accessed, managed, and updated. A database is made up of individual records, each holding the data pertaining to a given person or item. A record consists of multiple fields (with their associated field names), each holding one item of data. To manage your database on your computer you will need a database management software. FileMaker Pro is such a software.By the end of this course, you will be able to use FileMaker Pro 5.5, the PC version, to create a database document that demonstrates your proficiency in the skills required to use a database software. You will download and use four documents to achieve this goal: a template, which will guide you through the knowledge and skills.
Step 1 -- Download the instructions, template, Excel and example documents. The template contains the information you'll need to complete the course. The example illustrates what your document should look like once you're finished.
Step 2 -- Use the outline below, or the course map on the left side of the screen, to locate the learning activity pages that teach the skills you require. You can go through all of the skills sequentially, from top to bottom, if you wish, or simply access the specific skills you need to complete the course. It's up to you.
Step 3 -- When you've finished all of the work outlined in the template, upload your finished document to your mentor using CTAP Online's Document Sharing feature.
